Lyle loved boats and boating (possibly stemming from his Grampa Wm. Jas. McIntyre, the steam engineer on Mary Lake‘s steamship the “S.S. GEM”; and an iceboat that his Father had when they owned Cusson’s Cottages (sitting on the current Camp Mini-Yo-Wee land) including rowboats, canoes, motorboat and sailboats.
Lyle and Janice progressed through a few boats from canoes for family trips into provincial parks, motorboats and sail including a 32’ Hunter and back to 26 Tanzer on Georgian Bay - one of his many favourite areas for shooting landscapes some of which were compiled in a coffee table art book titled “Silver & Stone”, of his black and white landscapes of Muskoka and Georgian Bay photography in 1994, Stoddart Publishing Company Ltd. ( Boston Mills Press).
During retired years, he created several scratch boat models based on boats that he was familiar with, 4 feet on stands, some with full sails and/or lighting.
His love of music covered many genre’s and he enjoyed showing his art in audio-visual programs for local Muskoka groups, as well in many provincial photographic seminars and across United States. He also gave his talent for portraits of little ones with cancer, or “special prices” for parent surprise gifts.
His photographs also graced the covers of local newspapers where his column was watched for.
Early years with his family would find them canoeing and portaging through Algonquin Park, spending time at his parents cottage on Mary Lake, and practicing portrait photography on each member, often joked about in later years.
He Loved people, Friends and Family. Being an only child, he enjoyed being included with Janice’s family. His children and grandchildren were precious to him
